Driving Change with Advanced Steel Products
In 2025, Steel Dynamics introduced its lower-embodied-carbon steel products, BIOEDGE™ and EDGE™, designed to help customers reduce their GHG emissions and advance their sustainability initiatives. Produced exclusively using highly efficient electric arc furnace (EAF) technology, these products are paired with emission-free nuclear energy certificates or Green-E Energy certified renewable energy certificates, significantly lowering Scope 2 emissions.
BIOEDGE goes a step further by reducing both embodied carbon and Scope 1 emissions through the use of renewable biocarbon from SDI Biocarbon Solutions in place of anthracite in the steelmaking process. For customers seeking to significantly decarbonize their supply chains without compromising performance or quality, BIOEDGE provides a high-impact, scalable option for their operations.
